TD professionals should understand the hierarchy of terminal and enabling objectives:
- Terminal objectives. Also known as performance objectives, they represent what learners must master before completing the course.
- Enabling objectives. To master one terminal objective, learners must often master several subordinate ones, which are called enabling objectives.
